Heirloom Apples & other fresh produce available from At Last Farm's Dog Day Camp in Mendocino

You may already know that the Mendocino Coast is a great place dogs and their people. There are great dog friendly hotels such as 2005 “Golden Bone Award” Winner, The Inn at Schoolhouse Creek, the Stanford Inn, Abigail’s B& B and Little River Inn but things just got better with the addition of At Last Farm’s Dog Day Camp located just 1 mile from the village of Mendocino. This unique camp allows dogs from all walks of life to enjoy the day experiencing a real working organic farm. At Last Farm’s Dog Day Camp was recently named Entrepreneur of the Year by West Company, Mendocino County’s, non-profit source for business advice & training.

At Last Farm was purchased by Ann Kanitz in 1989 with the idea of keeping the old ways alive while at the same time carving out a rewarding lifestyle for her.

She began by raising heirloom Navajo sheep. Today the property is home to an orchard full of heirloom apple trees and a large working garden.

Permanent residents of the farm include Dolly the Llama, a miniature horse named Redmond, Ann’s own Tibetan Terriers and a

herd of Icelandic sheep. Protecting the sheep and all the residents of At Last Farm are Bijou, the Great Pyrenees, and two Tibetan Mastiffs.  Sometimes in residence are Stanley the Steer, various cows, and chickens.

In 2006, Ann decided to add a dog day care to the offerings of At Last Farm. The goal was to provide the many visitors to the coast to enjoy some of the not so dog friendly activities such as whale watching off the coast or wine tasting in the Anderson Valley.
